Comedian Sampson McCormick was at an Oakland grocery store when an elderly white man offered to pay for his food while he was checking out.

ย The man called himself โ€œMr. Samuelโ€ and according to McCormick, Samuelย came up to him while he was waiting to check out. Samuelย said he was sorry for all of the racism and police brutality in the country latelyย andย then offered to pay for his groceries and handed him the receipt. As he left, Samuelย gave McCormick a fistย bump and said โ€œBlack Lives Do Matter.โ€

McCormick shared with Inside Editionย that the act of kindness allowed for โ€œa great conversation in the parking lotโ€ after he checked out.

โ€œHe made my day because he was so passionate,โ€ McCormick shared. โ€œItโ€™s always refreshing and uplifting to know that thereโ€™s someone who doesnโ€™t exactly walk in your shoes, but knows whatโ€™s going on.โ€

McCormick posted a picture about his experience on Facebook and it was quick to go viral with over 22,560 shares (at the time of press).

โ€œJust a random moment of solidarity and love that made my day. Some white folks out here are โ€˜wokeโ€™ too,โ€ McCormick wrote on Facebook.

Sometimes the simplest acts can prove weโ€™re surrounded by people who care about us, even if theyโ€™re strangers.
